Description:
On a whole, Switch Grasses are very hardy and do well in our native clay soil. Even better, varieties like Cheyenne Sky offer color contrasting not often seen in our native plants. Featuring a mix of green and reddish purple blades all summer long, the color intensifies to a deep red come fall. Late summer also brings about the airy, panicle style plumes that open dark red and fade to tan. A clumping grass, Cheyenne Sky's bright foliage can be used as a lower screen, mass planting, or even specimen planting. Seed heads can be left for the birds to enjoy or cut the stems to use in autumn and winter décor.
