Butterfly weed (Asclepias tuberosa) plays a vital role in supporting pollinators, particularly butterflies and bees. This vibrant native wildflower produces clusters of bright orange flowers rich in nectar, making it a favorite feeding spot for adult monarchs, swallowtails, and a variety of native bees.
Unlike other milkweed species, butterfly weed does not have milky sap, but it still serves as a crucial host plant for monarch butterfly caterpillars, which rely on milkweed to complete their life cycle.
By planting butterfly weed you can help sustain pollinator populations, which are essential for healthy ecosystems and the production of many fruits and vegetables. Its drought tolerance and low maintenance also make it an excellent addition to pollinator-friendly landscapes.

Wasson's is so beautifully laid out. It is very organized and very clean. The koi pond is gorgeous! I had so much fun walking through. We just purchased a lime light hydrangea tree. I will be going back to buy other plants and perennials.

Very helpful in providing summer/fall flower options. Also, in helping to find hummingbirds and butterfly friendly plants.

The family and I were extremely impressed with the selection of plants! The store is very well maintained and all the employees we spoke with were very kind and helpful. Would highly suggest this nursery to anyone! We will certainly be back!
