Granny Smith Apple is a well known apple variety that has been around for years, featuring a bright green color when ripe. It has fragrant white blossoms that give way to apples that ripen in late October with a frim, crisp texture to the flesh. The complex flavor is both sweet and tart, making it a great option for caramel apples, pies, cider, baking, and cooking, as well as fresh eating. Fruits will last for three months in a cool dry location, and six months in refrigeration. Granny Smith performs better when planted with a cross pollinator, such as, but not limited to, Fuji, Jonathan, Golden Delicious, and Red Delicious. The fragrant blossoms can be cut and enjoyed inside the home.
