Description:Black Hills Spruce is a naturally occurring variety of the native White Spruce. It has a smaller size as well as a slower growth rate. The dense habit features bright green to blue-green needles that are fragrant. It will produce pale brown, cylindrical cones. This cold tolerant tree has little maintenance once established. It is so named Black Hills due to mainly growing naturally in the Black Hills region of South Dakota. This tree can be used for windbreaks, privacy, or even as a winter tree for lights and/or ornaments.
