The Aphrodite Sweetshrub has large glossy foliage and an intriguing fragrance. Decide for yourself what is in the fruity fragrance, whether it is apples, pineapples, bunnlegum, or something else. In addition to the fragrant flowers, one can release additional fragrance by crushing the stems and leaves. The enormous magnolia-like flowers are a deep red. If shaping of the shrub is needed, do so after the flowers have finished. The flowers are used in high end cut flower displays. This Sweetshrub is a hybrid of the native and Asian species.
