Description:

Great Expectations Hosta has broadly ovate leaves that are thick and puckered. The irregular blue-green margins are wide and surround a center that changes colors with the season. The center emerges chartreuse in spring, turning yellow before fading to cream and white. These colors can also vary based on just how much sun this hosta is receiving. Each leaf is unique with its fern green streaks occurring between the margins and centers. In addition to being unique, the foliage is slug resistant. White, bell-shaped flowers occur in dense masses on 24 inch flower scapes. This low maintenance perennial can be deadheaded if one chooses and should have the spent foliage removed after dormancy has occurred in late fall. The leaves and the flowers can be utilized in a variety of floral arrangements. Hostas make excellent choices for shady areas and woodland gardens, helping to cover the ground and create texture and impact.
