Description:
Sweetly fragrant flower heads consist of tiny tubular white flowers in a ball-shaped cluster, attracting a number of different pollinators. These then turn into spherical red fruit, containing seeds for birds. Glossy green foliage change to shades of red and orange in fall. Plant in a location with moisture, as it does not tolerate dry soils. This buttonbush is native and loves wetlands, hating dry soils. If the shrub needs to be revitalized or is unmanageable, they can handle a cutback to 6 inches above ground in early spring.
