Description:
The Flowering Dogwood is an excellent small ornamental tree that also provides shade. Its showy white bracts appear in late April and May, eventually giving way to fruits that change to a glossy red in autumn. Its green leaves change to a red to reddish purple fall color. This dogwood is native to Indiana. Plant this dogwood in a location that is protected from strong winds as well as shaded from the afternoon sun; it will not tolerate poor soil drainage. Both the flowers and the fruits can be used in floral arrangements.
