Description:This spectacular summer-bloomer blooms on both old and new wood. Enormous vivid rose pink globe-shaped flowers turn purple-blue in acidic soil; for clay soils, add aluminum sulfate for the color change. Foliage is somewhat coarse but dark green in color with red veins and petioles, on purple-red stems. Do not prune in the fall, and only lightly prune to shape and remove dead in the spring. Spent flowers can be deadheaded. Flowers can be used in floral bouquets.
