Description:Heavy Metal has a columnar habit with metallic blue blades that change to yellow in autumn before fading to a tan-brown for winter. The foliage averages 3 feet in height, with the flowers taking the overall height to 5 feet. Starting in July, a show of pinkish, airy cloud-like panicles can be viewed. These eventually give way to the seed heads. Seed heads can be left for the birds to enjoy or cut the stems to use in autumn and winter décor. Cut clumps back in late winter to early spring to approximately 3 inches above the ground.
