Description:
The Little Bluestem The Blues features broom-like clumps of foliage tinted blue. Come autumn, the foliage is a lovely burgundy red. In August, purple bronze blooms can be seen. These give way to fluffy silver-white seed heads that can last into the winter. Birds utilize this plant in multiple ways, including as nesting material and food source. This native prairie grass variety will tolerate road salt. Best planted in masses, it is also useful for slopes and banks. Cut back in late winter or early spring to 3-4 inches above the ground, protecting the crown of the plant.
